February 26-27, 2009  SPICE: Auditory Management of Children with Cochlear Implants and/or Hearing Aids

This workshop features live demonstrations, video, classroom observation, hands-on practice and expanded activities for the CID SPICE curriculum, including suggested skills to practice with children whose skills have advanced beyond the scope of the SPICE. Topics include current HA and CI technology, effective team audiological management for audiologists, SLPs and educators, and techniques, activities and materials for capitalizing on the auditory information available to a child with hearing aid/s and/or cochlear implant/s. March 5-6, 2009
Tools and Techniques for Assessing and Teaching Language
$225 1.5 days 
This one and a half day workshop is designed to provide teachers and speech-language pathologists with the tools and techniques necessary to teach spoken language, through listening and talking, to children with hearing loss age 3 to 12 years. The course includes lectures, video, interactive activities, analysis of language samples and classroom observation. Methods and tools include pragmatics, language improvement and questioning techniques, semantics, syntax, collecting language samples and the CID TAGS (Teacher Assessment of Grammatical Structures) curriculum. For participants in this workshop, we offer the CID TAGS system at a generous discount. more info and print form

March 6, 2009  Make It and Take It!   $100 .5 days  
Tired of buying expensive commercially-made materials that aren’t exactly what you need for teaching preschool language structures? If so, come to CID’s half-day "Make It and Take It!" Create your own materials based on the ideas from expert teachers in the field of auditory-oral deaf education and learn how to use those materials in the classroom. Not only will you leave the workshop with a collection of materials for teaching language structures, but you will know how to use them. Participants will observe the materials being used in the classroom and make their own materials to take home. more info and print form
